Author Fees

The Journal of Kyrgyzstan Studies is a fully open-access journal and charges no fee to authors at any stage of the publication process.

Fee-free principle. Authors are not subject to any submission fee, review fee, article processing charge (APC) for open-access publication, per-page charge, color-figure charge, or similar financial obligation. This principle guarantees that the journal is entirely free of charge for both authors and readers.

No payment to authors. Authors do not receive royalties or comparable payments for published work. This is standard practice for international open-access journals.

Sources of funding. The journal's publication costs (domain, hosting, DOI registration, digital preservation network membership, editorial operations) are covered by the publisher. The journal accepts no content-related direction from commercial sponsors. Editorial decision-making is independent of financial influence.

Rationale. In open-access publishing, the APC model transfers publication costs from the reader to the author. This model creates a barrier especially for scholars in developing countries and those with limited institutional funding support. JKS is committed to removing all financial obstacles to publication for researchers working on Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia; access is free for the reader, and publication is free for the author. This position corresponds to what DOAJ describes as the "diamond open access" model.
