Editorial Standards

Editorial Policies

Our editorial policies outline the standards that govern submission, review, and publication. They ensure that every contribution to the Journal of Kyrgyzstan Studies meets the same scholarly, ethical, and metadata requirements.

Language Policy

English is the primary language of the Journal of Kyrgyzstan Studies (JKS). To maximise the international visibility and citation of published research, authors are encouraged to submit their manuscripts in English.

In keeping with the journal's regional mission, JKS also accepts manuscripts written in Kyrgyz, Russian, and Turkish.

Regardless of the language of the manuscript, every article must include an English-language title, abstract (200–250 words), and keywords (5–7). For manuscripts written in Kyrgyz, Russian, or Turkish, authors must additionally provide an extended English abstract of 500–750 words.

All references must be presented in the Roman (Latin) alphabet, following APA 7th edition style. References originally in Cyrillic must be transliterated; where an official English version of a source exists, that version should be used.

These requirements ensure that all published research remains discoverable to an international readership and fully compatible with the metadata standards of indexing databases such as DOAJ, Scopus, and Web of Science.
