Long-Term Preservation
The Journal of Kyrgyzstan Studies is committed to ensuring the long-term accessibility and digital continuity of the scholarly content it publishes. To this end, the journal participates in internationally recognized digital preservation networks.
PKP Preservation Network. The journal is preserved through the Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network (PKP PN). PKP PN preserves the content of OJS-based journals by distributing and replicating it across multiple servers; this ensures that content remains accessible even if a single server or institution becomes unavailable.
LOCKSS compatibility. PKP PN is built on the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) protocol. This protocol rests on the principle that digital content is stored in multiple, geographically distributed copies and subjected to regular integrity checks.
Content formats. All articles published in JKS are archived in open, long-lived formats (PDF/A, HTML, JATS XML). The choice of these formats is intended to keep the content readable and accessible over the coming decades.
Persistent identifiers. Each article is assigned a persistent digital object identifier (DOI). Even if the journal's server or domain changes, access via the DOI will continue to resolve to the article.
Continuity guarantee. Should the journal cease publication for any reason, its published content will continue to be preserved and remain accessible through the PKP PN network.
